Thread: Silk line care

    Default Silk line care

I'm a big Silk fan, even more so after using a 2wt for most of the season on a 10ft 2wt rod. Just remembered I left it in my tackle bag after the last days fishing on Sept 30th. I have to dry this before winter storage I believe to stop rot? Also, should I grease it aswell (once dried fully) or better to leave dry until next season?

Strip the wet part off the reel, let it dry, grease it up so you’re not frantically doing it the night before opening day, rewind, stick the reel in a dry, dark spot.
20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please God, don't take Kevin Bacon.

Decided to play safe and grease it for the winter with the stuff that peche a soie supplied. Can't do it any harm during the winter hibernation.

Did exactly the same to mine yesterday
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

If you do need to grease it all up John I’d leave it in loose coils rather than wind it tight back on a reel.
Men and fish are alike, they both get into trouble when they open their mouths.
