    Default Vest with backpack

Before I go ahead and order the Pategonia vest hybrid back, are there any other suggestions from the knowledgeable masses about any other vests that can comfortably allow the angler to carry food and water on the river without the vest being a massive bulky heavy thing. Ideally I'd prefer a vest that is detachable from a small backpack, not one of those humongous things more suited to camping for the weekend than a day's fishing. As it stands I use a Mouches Devaux vest which I think is a copy of a Simms vest from about 10 years ago and whilst I am definitely keeping it, and I like it, the food and water flop around in the rear pocket quite a bit.

Ordered the stillwater fpx vest and backpack combo from GAC. Hope for best.

I'm a big fan of the Fishpond Wildhorse vest pack, although it doesn't have a detachable vest so it might not be entirely suitable for your needs.

Cheers Streamer. Ive looked at loads online and dont want to spend too much as I will probably only use this one for longer days on the river for carrying water and food. I dont see why all these vests have low down pockets that will let in water but hey ho. The fishponds look v good but probably more than i need capacity and price wise. My main vest is a Simms copy from Mouches Devaux and its v good overall except for carrying extra stuff. Looking forward to getting it, I got the Patagonia in the post but wasnt a huge fan of the material its made of. And at 59 the FPX is a fair price I think.

Got the fpx, awful kit. The connection between the front of the vest and the packback is poor and the there is a huge gap there. The result is that the front part flops around. Too many straps hanging off it too
