Here are three size 18 Adams on a 20p coin. Setting the hackle tip wings was a little tricky 🤪😜

Here you go Catzrob. Hends BL 454 in size 18 👍

Tell me do you know it they’re stronger than SUD’s and SLD’s
I’ve lost a few fish this year and noticed the partridge hooks have pulled out of shape a bit. And when spinning deer hair they tend to bend if I’m too heavy handed .
The 24 adams is fabulous . Size 18’s must feel like salmon hooks after a few of those!

I've not used the Partridge hooks, I tend to stick with the Hends 454's and Fulling Mill ', Ultimate Dry Fly Hooks.
For small stuff below 20 I use the Tiemco 100's, or Varivas 2300's

I forgot to add that the Hends hooks are made in 3 strengths. The BL 454 is standard wire, but they do a BL 354 with is 1x strong, or a BL 254 which is 2x strong. Of course it becomes a trade off..... Hook weight againgst hook strength 🤔🤔

Had a problem the other day with Tiemco 103BL -size 18 adams - a good fish lost cos the hook opened. It is fine wire hook so great for floating small dries but as you say it is a trade off !!

Great job, I always found that the hackle point wings were a very fiddly job.

A great general imitation pattern, along with the Parachute Adams, which is probably my favourite dry fly of all

I'm a sucker for parachute hackled dry flies too, they do seem to sit more naturally 👍👍
