I've been a fisherman since the age of ten and soon to be 50. Bait fished as a kid on the canals around Hackney and the river Lea. Moved to across the water in my early 30's and got the Barbel bug, then ten years ago got totally bored sitting on my ****.

Lure fished almost exclusively for the last ten years or so, but the current craze for the "In your face" must have the latest lure, pro staff angler has worn a little thin. Picked up a Pike Fly outfit in the late Autumn and enjoyed it.

Then about 3 weeks back got a little 4# outfit that I've been using for silverfish on a stream near home. And for Trout when the season opens. And again for Rudd and Chub in this coming summer.

That's about it really.

I started off on the Lea too. Used to get bus from Hornsey
good time with maggots and hemp seeds. Gudgeon Dace, Roach
Dad had a 3pce 12' Hardy solid cane with a greenheart top
forget what i had

then we 'graduated' to the Walthamstow Reservoirs about 1960s
Dad and I made our own spinning rods from WWII tank radio antenna
with a Mitchell reel. Hand made cork handles too. Superb perch to be had there

now we all spend £££ on the latest ''must-have'' carbon..............:eek:mg:

Gent's,

Much appreciated.

Yardbent,

I spent some good days over the "Stow", getting the bus up from Dalston to fish the Coppermill Stream, from around the late '80s. I've not cast a line over that way for donkey's years now mind you.
