Just back in from a few hours on the Eden. I fished the sewage works, it sounds awful but it's a lovely stretch of river. The air was thick with Hawthorns when I arrived and fish were taking them so it was an obvious choice of fly!
I fished a detached foam bodied Hawthorn but the fish wouldn't touch it so I trimmed off the downward facing hackles so it fished in the surface instead of on it and it made all the difference. I had a good hour or so taking some good brownies until the wind turned Northerly and killed the rise stone dead and I never touched another fish!!

Hi Paul, you did well, I believe you bumped into my friend Michael?
I fished the KS water today on the swap ticket.
Massive amount of Hawthorns about, but very few on the water, loads of LDOs and March Browns but very few fish interested.
We saw one immense fish trying to dominate his area, such a big bow wave from him we thought it was an Otter!!
My friend hooked and lost a nice fish about 2.5lbs.
I’ll catch you on the river at some point.

Hi Steven, yes it was good to meet Michael he seems like a nice guy. Lots of Hawthorns on the water at the sewage works until the wind swung around. I saw quite a few March Brown's also but I only saw one fish slash at one and that was it. I set off in a tee-shirt but ended up with a jacket on as the temperature drop was so pronounced.
Would be good to meet up sometime.
Paul.

Yes I did thank you. I have a heart condition and it's the only time it's ever been useful. It usually only costs me with travel insurance etc.
