Is somebody familiar with these rods?
I am considering 10' 3/4 either 11'6' 4/5 modell, but don't know what would be suitable line weight for these rods.
Could somebody help?
You need to check the grain rating for the rod as sometimes the rod is advertised as a single hand rating or a double hand rating. (There's a difference of around 2 single hand ratings).
Grains will eliminate this confusion.
If a double handed rating then I'd say a 250-300 grains would probably be OK. Check Barrio site I think he has switch lines which will be suitable.
On aliexpress the 11'6 4/5 is rated 350-600 grains which is a little high for a 4/5 (sounds more like a 5/6) but it means you can get a switch line 350-400 then add 7-10' tips up to 200gr! (Sounds too heavy for a 4/5 rod as you'd never use very heavy sinking tips on a low line rod like this).
Checking Barrio switch specs a 5/6 (340) or a 6/7 (380) are probably OK with a 90-100 int/hover/slow 10' poly tip.
Of course there's probably an equivalent and cheaper max catch equivalent!
One last thing, checked the max catch 5/6 switch line and its a full line with a 55' head! You'd struggle to cast that length head with a short rod like that.
Look for a short head in the 30' range. Perhaps using heads and attaching to a running line will be more economical.
There are also supershort heads like opst skagit commandos under 20' but these are obviously more expensive. You need to drop the grains if using these by about 100, say 250-280 grains
The rating is probably 350-500 not 600, meaning a 350 grain scandi or a 375 skagit with up to a 120 grain tip will be appropriate for this rod.
