In Puget sound in Washington state we have had many farm fish escapes due to net pen failures in salt water bays. fortunately they are Atlantic salmon & don’t bred with the pacific salmon but they do migrate into local rivers in small amounts. Unfortunately the Native American tribes are now partnering up with the fish farms so laws banning the fish farms are virtually useless. There is a huge market for fish farm fish in the U.S.

I read only recently that the First Nations people in BC had successfully lobbied to have off-shore fish farms closed by 2022. I will try to find where I read it and check what the article was saying.
