I would say if you are going to be doing a lot of wading in conditions where it is likely to be quite hot, especially if you are going to be doing a lot of walking, then they are a worthwhile investment. If you tend to be reasonably static or your fishing is most likely going to be done in cool conditions then you would get away with neoprene or pvc.

 

the only ones you hear about are the leaky ones, most last into the well stinky stage,
i would love to know if anyone has tried Hoffman neoprene footed guide pants, supposed to be as comfrotable as normal trousers but you can put wading boots on and stay dry to the waist, get them through cabalis in the US??

Better still. Orvis in the US are doing a sale on the Endura waders. 79 bucks - circa 50 quid with the Orvis gurantee. I bought mine & they fit perfectly. Next step hope they do not leak.

What size waders and boots would you be ? I've got a pair of used, but in
great condition Simms Goretex Guide Waders to list soon in the classifieds,
they are size ML. Also have a pair of Simms Freestone boots, used no more
than half a dozen times - size 10... ideal for someone wanting there first
pair of waders, much cheaper than new prices.

Waders have never leaked, no repairs or damage, Simms waist belt also
included etc...

I am a Wychwood bigot on this cheap, well made, reliable. However Grommitt has a fantastic deal on Greys.

£80 - £90 should be your mark for cheap breathables.

But as everyone will tell you ......... it's the fit that counts. Go try them on. If you are buying online and can't try them then Orvis offer the best range of fits and the best returns policy. However they have the reputation of leaking a lot.
