The next BFCC Meeting is this Saturday 5th October 2019 at Bentley Cricket Club, Brentwood, Essex.

We will have fly casting tuition from our excellent instructors, Mark, Mike H, Sekhar, Mike M, John and Dominic, who will be on hand for most of the day to provide advice.

The casting competition events will be run all day starting with accuracy, then the 'heavier' gear (T120, S55g, T38) and after lunch the 5#, 7# and ST27. It could be a great competition to enter or be a spectator for as we have some top UK and international casters competing. As usual we will run three levels of the competition so that everyone has a chance to win their category.

We will have a short AGM over the lunch break. Refreshments will be provided for sale during the day.

For those interested in the World Rugby, the Cricket Club will be showing the England game.

Look forward to seeing you there
Tracy

BFCC Meeting in Yorkshire on Saturday November 16th 2019

The last BFCC Meeting of 2019 at a new venue for the BFCC - the Northern Fishing School at the Swinton Estate in Ripon. The School is run by one of our members, Marina Gibson, and we will run a full Meeting with all the competition events and excellent tuition provided by several of our MCIs. Also the BFCC Champion of 2019 will be announced after the competition events.

BFCC Members get free tuition from the BFCC instructors and free entry into the competition events; day tickets for non-members are only £15 and juniors are free.

Some of the Club members will be in the area for the weekend, so we'll hopefully get some fishing organised and have a social gathering on the Saturday evening. If you fancy joining us, then please let me know and I can provide more details, Tracy.

For those concerned about the flooding issues in Yorkshire, the location of the BFCC Meeting is near Ripon that hasn't been badly affected. So if you fancy a day casting, socialising and chatting about fishing, then come along and join us.
We have several MCIs on hand to provide fantastic instruction for whatever you need help with.
Hope to see you there
Tracy :goodcast:

The BFCC casting events are now over for the year, Tracy will be working on next years calendar with the other members in due course. Uniquely there were casting records set at every competition event of the year, including the last one at the NFS with the stunning backdrop of the Swinton Estate house. It certainly wasn't a day for distance casting, however both the men's and women's accuracy records were beaten. Kei Okamoto extended his men's record and Tracy extended her women's best. Young George Clarke also increased the junior (under 13) T38 distance record that he set in Oswestry.

The BFCC champion for the year was Kei Okamoto, a member of the Japanese world championship team, beating me on count-back after the points over the course of the year were tied.

I'm aware that I tend to concentrate on the competition side of things (because that's what I do) however the BFCC days are not all about competing. At every event we have great instructors who are willing to help all those requiring tuition - from complete beginners through to those preparing to take instructor certifications (in fact a number of them are examiners for various casting organisations). So next year, even if you're not into the competition and just want some casting tips, why not consider coming along to an event.

I look forward to seeing some of you next year, James.

Hi Al,

The BFCC have run a few events in Scotland, a couple in Glasgow and one in Fintry. In order to put on an event they need someone local to take the lead in finding a venue and promoting the day locally. There is someone working on this but we're not sure when the event will happen. As such, North Yorkshire was as high up as the club ventured this year. Hopefully Scotland will be back on the agenda next year - there's some fantastic competition casters up there.

James.

Somewhere more central (Perth/Pitlochry) would be good :)

I’d travel to anywhere in Scotland though, sounds interesting to see the competitors cast and pick up some tips and hopefully improve my technique.

The first BFCC Meeting of 2020 is this weekend at Cullompton Cricket Club in Devon. Regardless of the wet season we seem to be having the cricket field is still good for casting, so Sunday 8th March the BFCC will be running the usual seven competition events, plus we will have fly casting tuition provided all day by some fantastic instructors. If you fancy joining us, then come along, we start at 9:30 and finish at 16:00. More details can be found on our website - www.thebfcc.co.uk

BFCC Meeting in Devon on Sunday 8th March 2020 - CHANGE OF VENUE
The original venue is too waterlogged, so we have changed to BAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB, near Tiverton, EX16 9AB. We still have a good number of instructors attending so if you want some advice on hauling, or are just beginning, please feel free to come along.
There will be the usual 7 competition events as well, if you fancy having a go; you can enter one, two or all seven; it's up to you, or just come along and watch as there's always something to learn,
Hope to see you there, Tracy

I tested out a prototype 55g salmon overhead line at the first BFCC event in Bampton, Devon and managed to beat the record with it  - this now stands at 207ft 9in. The line is going to be produced by AtomSix and Steve hopes to have the first production batch in stock soon.
