Tried fishing with these for the first time tonight and had a ball, caught more than enough to convince me to tie a few more.

Anyway, been tying them in 8's and 10's, with 3mm or 2.5mm beads respectively.

#8 grub hook
3mm black nickel tungsten bead
Tail - filoplume from partridge
Body - sickly green rayon embroidery thread, twisted tight and wound.
Rib - #16 Mylar in between body wraps.
Antenna - long fibres from barred turkey quill
Thorax - black SLF with a bit of rainbow spectra.

I forgot the legs on this one, have been just using a v cut partridge feather.

Dry -

Nice Mike.
I'm on with transparent plastic/rubber round stuff. Used for making bead bracelets and some that is also coloured for sedge pupa bodies. Had some success last week on a black nymph using this stuff in black as the body. ;)

Ged, where do you get that from? The only bracelet string stuff I ever found was like a suede or spanflex type material. Do you mean like veniard stretch rib?

Yes but much cheaper. Got 25 yrds (yes, yards) in 0.5mm and 1.0 mm from a craft shop in Bury at £2.99 each. Also got 10 spools in different colours of 0.8mm, 8 meters each spool of Amazon. Made by Crystal Tec.
Known as Stretchy Beading Cord.

Nice tie Mark. Made me happy to know someone else forgets to add bits :) I thought it was old age coming on :) I have tied a number of variations including Davie Mcs patterns and never had any success. I will tie a couple of these for Sunday and see what happens. Best regards, N
