Any UK suppliers other than Guides and Blanks? Rod building components for fishing rod builders, repairs & refurbishments

 

There are only a few Jeff, which is why I thought this list might be useful. I'll get on to the UK & Scandi countries shortly.
Knowing my luck we'll leave the EU without a deal and this will be redundant in a few months! Mind you, a trade deal with the US could open up a new world of reel seat options.

@golden graham: I don't recall seeing any Loop Cross blanks when I compiled the list, sorry. The 'inventory' given above really only mentions the shop's primary lines, not every maker they stock. I can only suggest checking each link or contacting Loop directly. I'll keep an eye open for you meantime. Any specific wt/length?

I've bought from Rodstripers2016 three times at least with no probs and a fast service.

I have to give a shout out to Hi-Level of Sweden though. Just before Christmas I was short one out of stock Size 3 bronze snake. Sami of Customer Service actually asked his mum, a rod builder, if she could help - and she could and did, sending it immediately! That's a bit special, don't you think?

I think you will find that the Chapman blanks site is OK now. I have purchased from John Chapman a few weeks ago and found him very helpful.

I thought I'd compile a list of rod building suppliers currently serving the market, focusing on Europe and principally fly gear.
An issue I've often found is that, if you have a specific design in mind it's rare that you find all the bits you need in one shop and this increases costs and waiting time. Hopefully, this list will widen our choices and maybe cut p&p charges. I'm sure I'll omit many vendors so please post and I'll revise the list accordingly.

Norman Agutters - Purveyors of built cane fly blanks, corks, seats and consumables.
RodRingsandThings - Not very fly-orientated but has handles, winding checks, Alps folding hook keepers, Bullard 'Craftsman's Twist' thread, some PacBay guides and seats.
Rodstripers2016 (eBayUK) - Various rod building accessories. Excellent for small single orders of threads, etc. as there is no minimum order requirements.
Tacklebox.co.uk - Coarse rod building supplier but has consumables, thread, epoxy, etc.
Taniwha Rodworks (on Etsy) - High quality supplies. Self-sourced fly rod blanks, Lemke reel seats and with fine wooden inserts, own range seats, cork, eyes, etc. and usables.
As of 28/03/20 Mark remains open for business.

That's all I'm aware of. Please post if you know of others and I'll gladly add to the list.

rivercitytackle.co.uk - from their own website, River City Tackle is a sister company of Harrison Rods. The aim is to provide spares and components to build or repair fishing rods.
They have a few fly rod components, mainly reel seats.

I've asked Kirsty to pin it James. No luck with culms I'm afraid, looks like I've got bamboo for four more rods then that's it for the duration. There is a guy who bought some of Chapmans milling equipment when Brian retired who is supposed to be selling off culms but I can't locate him.

Isn't he Andrew Green who has Arcane Traditional Products?
He also has a Facebook group TART (Traditional and Retro Tackle) for classic coarse gear. I saw a YouTube of the day Chapmans was closing and equipment going to Andrew. Scores of culms, most of which he got from the late Andy Royer, the bamboo broker.
