The season started very well on Wednesday 1st March with over70 rods sampling some excellent sport from the banks and boats. All the normal early season flys and methods worked well. A lot of the fish were higher in the water than expected so even floating lines worked well. Darby County angler Mr C Wilkins banked 25 trout, season permit holder Mr B Burton banked 20 fish on floating line with a long leader and a black tin head fritz. Mr J Hockenhull netted 23 fish to his boat.

Thursday was wet cold and windy however 20 rods ventured out for a supper days fishing Mr Aronica recorded 33 fish from the sailing club slipway on black and green lures. While Mr Lenton and his boat partner took 17 fish (pictures are on face book). Paddy Fitch also banked 22 from the banks around Flamingo bay.

By Friday afternoon the fish were well on the feed and produced the best rod average of the week 10.5. derby County angler Alan Topping took 29 fish from the shallows in Flamingo bay and P Harding and M Cartlidge had over 40 fish to their boat.

With the improvement of the weather on Saturday the banks were busy again with the fish still willing to feed Mr P Pomfret banked 41 fish from Flamingo Bay and season permit holders Mr D Murphy and R Cotterill took 32 to their boat. Black and green lures still tacking most the fish.

Sunday seen the weather turn very wet cold and windy again but 32 rods still took to the water catching 194 fish. Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has continued with some fabulous early season sport, during the last week over 1300 trout were caught! During the week.

On Monday the sailing club bay and Flamingo bay was the area to be with plenty of fish eager to take damsels and black and green lures. Tuesday was a lovely spring day with a slightly overcast day with a light warm breeze, the banks fished well all day but the afternoon was superb with the last four-hour permit being popular and productive. Derby County Angling Club member netting 19 fish on damsels in the morning and buzzers on a floating line in the afternoon. The weather on Wednesday was very bright and calm almost like summer with the temperature going to 17 degrees this did slow the fishing down during the middle part of the day but as the sun became lower in the sky flamingo bay and verdons point came to life. The boats fished better than the banks during the day, being able to access deeper water. Mr T Cook and his boat partner Mr C Cook took 28 fish between them on intermediate lines near Flamingo bay. Mr D Hussey fished from the bank on Thursday and netted 25 fish on a Pittsford pea while Mr P Harding and Mr J Perry took 40 fish to their boat. By Friday the banks and the boats fished well again with damsels doing the business. Buzzers produced the better results on Saturday again round Verdons point and flamingo bay. Derby County Angling Club members Mr P Webb And Mr C Wilkins enjoyed their Sundays fishing netting over 40 fish between them from the banks. Mr G Moody also netted 24 trout and his fishing partner won the bragging rights by netting over30 fish.

.

Sunday Foremark Fly Fishers held a joint bank and boat match with 13 rods catching a total of 104 fish for a match average of 8.
Six rods fishing from a boat and 7 fishing from the bank, the bank produced the more consistent better weights with the overall winner being Mr Dave Steer with a weight of 16lbs 11oz for 8 fish, he also caught the biggest fish being 3lbs 8oz.

Foremark weekly report week ending 26/3/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has continued fish well despite some challenging mix of weather this last week with some frosty mornings strong cold East North East winds and clear and very bright afternoons.
The fish are still holding close to Verdon’s point and Flamingo bay, how-ever some boats are now taking some good fish around the dam wall near the car park and a few fish now showing down Carvers arm between Sun blest bay and Bramble bay.
Fishing on sinking lines or intermediate lines in the early mornings then switching to floating lines with buzzers or the washing line have been taking fish in the afternoons.

Verdon’s point down to the sailing club have been producing fish from the banks in the mid to late afternoons this has seemed to be a regular occurrence from the start of the season.
Noticeable catches of the week:
Derby county angling club member Mr J Chilton bank fished on Tuesday and landed 15 fish while Mr P Fitch landed 13 on black buzzer. Friday was a good day for season permit holder Mr S Wilson taking 16 trout and a 15lbs pike on a DI7 line by the dam wall. Mr B Price had 10 trout to his boat and Mr Fitch was back again and took another 13 fish. A Tough day on Saturday with a very bright and breezy day but Mr C Martin banked 12 fish.
Mr D Dodds fished from the bank on Sunday with Damsels and buzzers and netted 9 fish while Mr J Woodward took 13 fish by fishing deep with a white lure.

Foremark has fished very well this last week even with some warm and very bright days. With the brighter conditions boats are now beginning to do slightly better than the banks however the banks are still producing some excellent sport with black buzzers and gold head damsels.

It has been so nice over the last few days to see several junior anglers out with their parents or grandparents having the chance to experience our fishing and surroundings. There are some smashing photos on our Facebook page please have a look and see the enjoyment on their faces. www.facebook.com/FlyFishStore

Mr D Hudson fished from the banks around Verdons point on Monday and netted 19 trout on Damsels. Tuesday Thornton season permit holder Mr K Coley and his boat partner Mr R Taft boated 24 fish on a variety of dark lures and Mr P. Stringer fished the banks around Flamingo bay and netted 16 fish.

Wednesday season permit holder Mr S Wilson was back out in a boat down Carvers arm along the Ticknall bank near Gorse bay and brought over 20n fish to his boat on lures.

A stocking on Thursday of over a thousand fish really set the fishing on fire with the fish feeding freely around all the banks from the beech in-front of the lodge to the wires including sun blest and bramble bay.

As the weather started to improve on Friday buzzers and damsels fished on a floating line brought steady results all day, plenty of willing fish in Flamingo bay feeding near the surface. The boats fished well Mr D martin netted 25 fish to his boat fishing P.T.N in the morning then turning to buzzers in the afternoon. Fish of the day goes to season permit holder Mr D Murphy for a fin perfect blue trout of around 2lbs, Mr Murphy was sharing a boat with Mr S Wilson and between them they brought over40 fish to the boat.

Mr Meade and Mr smith got amongst the fish on Saturday boating 35 fish between them.

Foremark weekly report week ending 07/05/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Despite the breezy East North Eastly wind during the last week the fishing has remained good with Damsels and buzzers still producing the most fish. During the sunny parts of the day lots of Hawthorne flies have been dancing and flying around. The odd angler has had a go with dry flies and had some results, however this has been a little patchy.

Our blue trout are still showing themselves with catches reported from most areas. The fresh stocking as kept the sport in Flamingo bay going.
When the wind has allowed the banks from the sailing club bay all the way round to the wires in carver’s arm have produced fish while the boats have had the better sport around gorse bay the wires and bramble bay.

Derby County Angling Club Members C Wilkins and K Smith took to an afternoon boat on Monday and netted 20 fish between them on FABs around Verdun’s point Mr D Hudson took 12 fish from the bank.
Season permit holder S Wilson used black buzzers from his boat on Tuesday and took over20 trout. Mr P Walker bank fished with booby and buzzers and recorded 11 fish.

The wind started to kick in on Wednesday but Mr P Ravencroft fished from a boat down carver’s arm and tempted 9 fish on buzzer. David Nimmo fished Damsel and orange fritz from his boat on Thursday and took 8 fish. During a last four-hour session, Mr A. Kearns used black dry fly to tempt 5 trout including three blues from in front of the trees in Flamingo.
On Friday with the stong wind boat was by far the better option Mr S. Hawley and his boat partner Mr B.Trussel boated 26 fish on beaded nymphs and buzzers.

Strong winds again on Saturday, so again a boat was the best option J Noble 21 fish M Carrig 18 fish, N Cozens 10 fish P Ward 17 fish D Allen 10 fish
Sunday a drop-in wind speed if not direction, and most anglers opting for a boat buzzers and damsels still topped the list of successful flies. Top rod was mr Bristow with 20 trout Mr K Lomas took 6 including a 5lb blue and Mr Dobrzycki caught 11 on damsel.

Foremark Fly Fishers held a match with11 rods catching a total of 88 fish for a match average of 8 the overall winner was Mr Chris Shreeve with 16lbs 4oz (the only bank angler in the match). Second was Mr D Baxter with 15lbs 12oz, third was Mr L Whitehead with 14lbs 4oz the best fish was caught by Mr B Lord a 3lbs 12oz brown.

Foremark has continued to fish well over the last week with the fish still holding in the bay’s and down carvers arm. Buzzers and damsels are still the go to flies and have produced most of the fish this week. Some anglers have however been having some success on hawthorns, fab blobs, black and green montana, and foam carixa. Water levels are now up and still rising and the water clarity is excellent. We have had a mixed week of weather from North east winds to bright calm days, the mornings and the evenings have produced the best sport.

Top rod on Monday was Mr S Emery with 6 fish from the bank. John Mack and his boat partner Cathy landed 13 trout on Tuesday on buzzers and diawl bach with green checks while Derby County Angling Club member Neil Cozens banked 18 fish on buzzers.

On Wednesday Mr Chris Winfield from Derby County Angling Club fished black buzzers and banked 9 trout during a morning session. Season permit holder Mr D Berven fish from the banks on Thursday and netted 11trout as did Mr B Bateman using damsels and diawl bach and season permit holder Mr S Wilson took over 20 fish trout to his boat in Flamingo bay.

Friday was the turn of season permit holder Chris Shreeve to get amongst the fish from the bank netting 18 fish on a DI3 line teamed up with a orange FAB blob and a damsel mr Cozens was back on the water and took 22 fish on buzzer including a 3lbs12oz rainbow.

Mr G Martin had a spell on the banks on Saturday and landed 17 trout on buzzers and damsels, Mr S Wilson also took a boat out on Saturday and fished flamingo bay and sun blest bay and again landed over 20 trout.

Sunday was another good fishing day Mr G Owen took 25 trout to his boat on dial bach and FAB season permit holder Mr R Cotterill netted 15 to his boat including a nice 3lbs plus blue. Mr D Baker had a good day fishing from the bank in the morning netting 9 fish on blue flash damsel and then fished from a boat in the afternoon and took another 12 fish on a combination of damsels and buzzers.

Foremark Fishing remains very good with last week’s rod average being 6.8. Buzzers and damsels are still the best flies and the best areas are still carvers arm for the boats and the bays for the bank. The weather during the week has been a little wet at times but we have also had some bright and sunny periods. The weather forecast for the next few days is looking very nice with high pressure building, we might have a few days of similar weather conditions (fingers crossed).

Mr J Scragg was back fishing from a boat on Monday, fishing down carver’s arm on red and black buzzers and netted 12 trout.
Tuesday the trout were well on the feed and some of our season permit holders got amongst the feeding fish J Graney had over 20 on cormorants and hoppers, Mr B Burton had 33 on floating line and damsels. J Fogg took 39 to his boat while J Worley and M Spence landed 19 between them on sinking lines and boobies.

Wow didn’t it rain on Wednesday but Mr S Savage fished the banks and did not let the weather put him of his stride netting 24 fish (well done).
Thursday saw Mr J Scragg back, and on the buzzers again landing another25 fish to his boat. Mr T Young fished damsel and buzzers and took 14trout. Mr D Bevan fished the banks and landed 10 trout including a blue trout which measured 50cm and a rainbow of the same length
Mr S Wilson boat fished down carver’s arm and sun blest bay on Friday taking over20 fish, as did Mr J Fogg.
Tony and Ruth Kirk fished from the banks on Saturday and banked 22 fish between them Tony fishing damsels (12 fish) and Ruth fishing olive buzzers (10 fish).
Sunday Mr Bailey used a last four-hour permit and banked 7 trout from the bank by the wires on buzzers. Mr M Bunney fished from a boat and caught 10 trout. Season permit holder R Cotterill used a midge tip line to fish the washing line method from his boat and caught over 20 fish.

Foremark continues to fish well on buzzers and damsels, and the fish are still holding down carver’s arm and around the bays. The banks are still fishing well but it will not be long before the fish start to move out into open water. Our water clarity is still very good and the water level is higher than I have seen for some time.

Foremark weekly report week ending 04/06/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has fished steady this week. With the warm bright sunny days, the water temperature has increased which has slowed the fishing slightly. Some of the resident course fish have spawned and we now have plenty of very small fry around the banks and most features. Some of the trout are finding that these pin fry are very tasty and are getting preoccupied on them (you might be able to take advantage of this in a week or so as the fry are growing quickly). The cooler temperatures that are forecast in the next week should help to cool the water a little.

Monday saw season permit holder Mr R Cotterill use dry flies from the bank and land ten fish while Mr J Wooward fished from a boat taking 7 fish on buzzers and cdc buzzers off the surface.
Mr Worley and Mr Spence fished from a boat on Tuesday tacking 18 fish between them again on buzzers down carver’s arm.
On Wednesday Mr J Jack used diawl bach and crunchers to tempt 20 fish to his boat also fishing down carver’s arm. Derby county club angler Mr M grant had some success off the bank using shipman’s buzzer and an orange hopper.

Thursdays top rods were yet again Tony and Ruth Kirk catching 11 fish from the bank in Flamingo bay on olive buzzers and on fish on a dry fly.
Friday was a difficult day for most but Mr T Kenchington fished from the banks and took 10 fish and Mr D Barker landed 7 fish to his boat on buzzers and diawl bach. By using size 18 spiders and buzzers Mr J Machin landed 8 fish to the bank in bramble bay.
Mr S Wilson was back on the water for the first time in a week and landed 8 trout during the afternoon on damsel and greenwells- daddies from sun bless bay.
Tony and Ruth Kirk were back on Sunday for another visit but it was Ruth turn to catch more than Tony (well done Ruth) a total of 17 fish between them again from the bank.

Kirby Fly Fishers held their annual boat match on Sunday with 13 rods taking part a total of 37 fish were caught giving a match rod average of 2.8.
The winner and 1st place rod was Mr W Lewin with a weight of 9lbs 15oz for 6 fish Second place was Mr A Pentney with a weight of 9lbs 15oz for 5 fish (just one more fish would have made the difference). Third place went to Mr B Parker with a weight of 9lbs 10oz for 6 fish. Biggest fish of the day wass caught by Mr G Partridge 2lbs15 oz.

Foremark weekly report week ending 11/06/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has suffered some very wet and windy weather over the last week with some days the boats not going out onto the water. However, some of the brave souls who did venture out still managed to get some good sport. with some anglers opting to fish floating lines and dries or buzzers, and the others fishing a little deeper on damsels and boobies. The water level remains high and the clarity is still very good. Some of the margins now has some light weed growth which the pin fry are finding cover from the fry feeding trout.

Monday was a very wet day with few anglers on the water, but Mr A McPherson still managed a couple of very nice rainbows from his rain saddened boat.
Tuesday How the wind did blow Mr N Parks was the only one to step up to the challenge of trying to fish from the banks for the last four hours, sadly no fish but well done for trying.

Wednesday morning and the wind was still blowing with the promise of lighter winds in the afternoon. The catches were a little patchy only to be expected after the previous days weather. Tony and Ruth Kirk dropped in for another session on the banks with their olive buzzers. A walk down to the area between sun blest and bramble bay were Ruth managed to catch 8 and Tony catching 6 this is the second week on the trot that Ruth has banked more than Tony. (I was asked to politely point this out). Season permit holder Mr B Burton also banked 6 fish on buzzers and a green damsel. Derby county angling club member Mr Price landed 7 fish including two at around 4lbs.

Thursday Derby county angling club member Mr N cozens followed advice and walked to bramble bay used deep fished buzzers on a dead drift and landed 10 trout. Mr j Scragg and his boat partner fished dry bibio and took 12 fish.

Fridays top rod was Mr S Wilson He boat fished in carver’s arm and landed 10 trout including one blue trout on damsel and buzzers.

Saturday Mr Scragg was back on the dry fly fishing down near the wires boating 14 trout despite the swirling wind.
On Sunday Mr D merphy and his boat partner Mr R Cotterill landed 16 fish on a mix of methods including the washing line, dries and floating fry.

Foremark weekly report week ending 18/06/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has continued to fish well over the last week despite the bright sunshine on Saturday although Sunday’s weather was a little more challenging. Currently our rod average is 3.3

Water clarity through the week remained very good until today.

This seasons pin fry has now started to grow rapidly and some of the trout are finding them irresistible. Most of the sport this week has been on or near the surface with dry fly’s taking, many of the fish.

With the hotter weather the boils should come into their own fish have been showing between the boils and the dam wall.

Monday Mr S Owen and his boat partner Mr M Cartlidge had a hectic day fishing down Carver’s arm landing 50 fish to the boat on floating lines with boobies and Silver Invicta

By Tuesday the fish turned to damsel’s, buzzers and diawl bach. Season permit holder Mr G Richards fished the banks of sailing club bay to take 5 trout during a morning session while out on the boats Mr K Coley and Mr B Taft had 21 trout.

Wednesday Mr Brownrige took 8 fish to his morning boat on cdc hoppers. Thursday was a little slower but Mr J Bishop fished the bank near the boat pontoon and netted 4 in the afternoon.

Friday and the fish were out in open water around number 1 buoy and feeding well on dry fly’s. Mr J Scragg and his boat partner Mr K Scragg landed 25 fish on bibio’s and hoppers. Mr S Wilson switched to dry sedge and boated 15.

Mr Noble and Mr Willians boat fished on Saturday morning again around number 1 buoy and landed 19 fish between them. Season permit holder R Cotterill used bobs bits to boat 14.

Sundays bright sun shine and very hot weather made it a very challenging day with no fish showing and few being caught.

Due to a Seven Trent Leadership event can all anglers park in our main car park .

Foremark weekly report week ending 25/06/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Foremark has slowed a little this week especially after the 35 degree temperatures recorded on Wednesday, however prior to that on Tuesday the fishing can only be described as brilliant. Mr Graney banked 9 trout on floating hoppers, Scott Wilson boated 18 fish, all off the top and Keith Coley boated 15 including a 3 ¾ lb fish and 3 others all over 3lb.Rod average for Tuesday was 6.5
Wednesday was a total disaster, however Thursday saw a slight recovery are the rod average recovered to 2 and that went into Friday with the only mentionable catch being Mr Scragg who boated 9 fish on a dry bibio. Saturday saw most people catch albeit 2s and 3s before Sunday took a slight turn for the worst with Mr Taylor being the only angler to catch 4.

Water clarity through the week recovered very well as soon as the wind picked up and is now back to very good.

This seasons pin fry has now started to grow rapidly and some of the trout are finding them irresistible. Most of the sport this week has been near the surface and close to the dam wall with small fry patterns and dry fly’s taking many of the fish.

With the boils working well many of the lake residence are in the vicinity although not actually in them, fish have been showing between the boils and the dam wall and between buoys number 3 & 4.

The forecast for the coming week is looking quite favourable although it may rain on Wednesday morning the temperature looks to be more in line with what we will like and the lake water temperature should continue to drop returning the fishing to what it was like at the start of last week.

Foremark weekly report week ending 02/07/2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202

The fishing at Foremark this week has fluctuated according to the weather with the cooler, cloudy days producing better results than the hot sunny midsummer days, all in all, stereotypical high summer reservoir fishing.

Last Thursday was a grey rainy day that saw the fish respond to the weather with the reservoir producing a superb daily average of over 5 fish per rod. Several anglers recorded double figure catches including Mr Garney, Mr. Scragg, Mr Scott and Mr Critchley. Best catch to the boat was 26 by Mr Ball and Critchley. Successful flies included hoppers, dry bibios, sedges and daddies.

Catches for the rest of the week fluctuated according to the weather with daily averages ranging from 1 to 2.5. Tuesday saw some notable catches including13 to the boat by Mr Coley, whilst Mr Grainey and Mr Burton netted 11 and regular, Mr Wilson caught 10.

The rest of the week proved challenging with most anglers reporting large numbers of fish showing on top, but frustratingly, they proved hard to tempt. Floating fry patterns, dries and small lures or blobs pulled sub surface seemed to provide the best chance of success. Notable catches included 9 by Mr Baker on Sunday whilst Mr Buckley and his partner netted 14 on Saturday

Water clarity through the week has been and remains very good.

This seasons pin fry continue to grow with large numbers to be seen along the boat pontoon & dam wall

Most of the sport this week has been near the surface and close to the dam wall especially behind the aerators with small fry patterns and dry fly’s taking many of the fish.

With the boils working well, many of the lake resident fish are either in them or showing between the boils and the dam wall and also between buoys number 3 & 4. The drift from the dam wall out to number 1 buoy has also proved productive.
