It's a start. It's still more people out on the water, and in the end, that will bring benefits to fly fishers. Get them fishing and then the may see that there is much more to be tried and enjoyed.

Animal rights activists, or 'animal worshiping pagans' as a mate of mine calls them.

All become too expensive, talked to a chap who said his uncle paid for a family group to fish on the Test at £500 a day then the guides cost on top who would send a list of flies needed to Farlows again extra cost. Then of course open a catalogue look at fly lines enough to frighten any biggener. Or a river in the Midlands, joining fee around a grand then about the same a year. And we wonder why numbers fishing shrink

...our silly PM won’t let us shoot them, she says we have to be kind! Patronising cheerleader she is. Watch out if the UN, WHO or some other loony socialist group gives her a job after we dump her at the coming election..!

An old adage...live & let live. Nature has it's own way to balance things.
...election of the prettiest, rather than selection of the fittest - the problem we had at the last election. Hopefully this NZ election time folks will remember the old adage; Beauty is, as beauty does.
Keen on English Springers, was reading a book by Joe Irving and his use of that adage, relative to how the dog looks. He explained it simply put as a good dog simply needs a head at one end, a tail at the other, and a leg in each corner - a good dog can’t be the wrong colour either.

She is the kiwi version of Macron and Trudeau. She is NZ’s attempt at popularism in the “me too” world.
She is strongly socialist/Labour currently, but would quickly change her view to that which gets her the most likes on Facebook.

On the world wide stage, she seems pretty grounded to the needs of your country Luke.
What is the alternative?

That is the problem. She is most focused on how she looks in the media, and especially the overseas media. She knows kiwis didn’t vote her in to power, it was a minority party that put her there as a coalition govt. She gave the guy who put her there deputy premiership and billions of dollars in a slush fund, to spend in the regions, to try and buy votes for the next election, as they struggleD themselves to get over the 5% threshold - and that is what he wanted, in order to give her his seats to get her over the line. The biggest party in the country National at 46% is completely un-represented. The govt. is made up of Greens, Labour and NZ First - a barely 5% conservative party that chose this socialist govt. essentially.
I would at least like a PM to know what GDP is, without a journalist having to explain it to her..
She is a show pony, nothing more. Never had a job, always just the girl who takes the minutes at Labour meetings. Ultimately she is determined to get a job at the UN, and that is what she is using NZ and kiwis for, as she knows that the PM job was the result of dumb luck - it’s just to build a profile - she studied marketing at university. Was apparently a Mormon I think but she packed that in, to work as a staffer for Tony Blair in the UK. Seems like she is just more than a bit institutionalised. It is all she knows.
