I used to fish years ago with my late father-in-law on the Coquet, and we would fish south of Warton, on a stretch of river that is upstream of the stretch now controlled by the Federation at Thropton. Did the Fed have the fishing on that stretch years ago, or was Pa in law unintentionally poaching? He wasn't the type of guy to break the rules intentionally!

Thanks Noel: I just got an answer from the Federation Secretary who tells me they have never had the water I was asking about. I guess Pa in Law was just confused.
When you join or renew your membership each season the federation send a map with all the details of water you can fish . They also have signposts on the river banks at the start and end of most of their water .
Yeah, I've got the maps Geordie. It's a bit of a mystery why Pa in Law would take me fishing where he did, as apparently it has never been Federation water.
