I like that - would be a good middle fly for the salmon and sea trout lochs. You could come at it from another direction and call it a leggy silver Clan Chief.

I copied it from Jackie Mahon and don't know the story behind the name !! I hear you on the silver clan chief vibe.....

I had a look for a photo of one of my silver chiefies, but don't seem to have one. Closest is the minilure double I use on the tail on the sea trout lochs...

They are supposed to have 2 body hackles, a black and a red, but I feel it makes them a bit overdressed, so I use a single badger dyed red (not a very good centre on that in in the photo) which looks like what you have used?

That one uses 2 golden pheasant body feathers dyed black for the wing. I might try doing it with a pair of ilen blue feathers for the wing. I used to use them for the wings of lures quite a lot in the1980s, such as this one...

That fly is so old, the hook is starting to rust!
