Lake Invasion

Mc Courts lake like Derryleckagh Lake and Camlough is under the Carlingford Lights area. I will contact my brother and see what the policy for the lake is. Hopefully like the two other lakes mentioned it might be turned into a mixed fishery and the pike will become the main quarry.

I've heard through the grapevine of certain people actively trying to introduce pike into Corbet Lough as well. There is a stock of pike in Lough Brickland, although it is a game fishery formost. Good luck to them I say, although the pike population explodes at first a balance will be attained and you can catch fantastic trophy pike fattened up on silvery circus slabs.

Really Joey? The Corbet!?

Its a great spot would be a pity in my eyes.
Sorry NI I'm winding you up a bit... Corbet is well loved and policed by club Baliffs and like you say a good wee game fishery. ;)

I'm sure if you contact the powers that be in the Looghs Agency or the Chairman of the Newry angling club they will investigate the Pike population on McCourt's lake. They are a pretty pro-avtive bunch, I'd call them pretty soon though before the jack pike get out of hand... good luck mate!

Also, I am 17 and have been fishing for 4 years and have only ever encountered a Baliff once and he never asked for any documentation.
Good to have you on Board NI welcome to the form, I used to live in Del Costo New Castle and my wife is from Kilkeel, and my brother lives up the Dublin road in Newry and we catch up for a few bears in Warrenpoint or Rostrevor...

Do you ever fish Carlinford lough for Bass or Seatrout?

No but I would love to.

As a matter of fact, I have only ever fished 3 waters due to lack of transportation:

McCourts Lake
Clanrye River
Castlewellan Lake
Watch out for the walkers and cyclist on the back cast at Castlewellan, you'll take a jogger's eye out a dogs ear or a baby out of a pram! ;)
