Was reading something tonight on FB by Lindsay Simpson, about soft tungsten shrimp backs from FTB, £7 for 20 !

It reminded me that I had experimented with these before and needed to refine it. I had some lead washers, and would trim the edge off, but it was a faff.

I had a play about and made a punch from an old 1" holesaw. First ground the teeth off, and then formed a cutting edge on the lathe.

Once the segments are cut, just bend over a round bar to form the crescent shape. This lead is a bit thick at 2.3, I'll look out for some lighter guage flashing at about 1.3mm.

Adds a lot of weight though, finished fly is 0.8g.

The same could be done with a gasket punch, just tap them out against a piece of MDF or similar.
