Original used the deer hair collar as a wing; on this version it’s more a hackle sub.

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - Uni 6/0 camel
tail - pheasant tail
rib - tying thread
body - deer hair
wing - Congo Hair white
collar - deer hair

Quite interesting. Do you tie the deer hair for the body behind the head first, work your thread down to the tail and then back up?

Do you tie the deer hair for the body behind the head first, work your thread down to the tail and then back up?

After the head is spun I tie in the hair for the body, wrap to the bend and back with crossing wraps. The SBS I linked to shows the sequence.
