So crap day yesterday today a walk along what will become the new river. I had chatted with uncas about how the river wasn't high this was before the biggest rain I've seen in a long time also hail..
So a lovely wal and a few. Pics.. The cave in the pictures was used during the trouble as a place for catholics to meet and pray.. History..

Looks good Gary, unlike the open sewer I walked along today, hence no photos. :(
Saying that, there were dippers and mergansers amongst all the bankside trailing plastic, old trailer and kid's bike. (y)
May be hope for the river yet..

That looks an amazing bit of water, and somewhere to shelter from the rain.

I wish I hadn't looked at the pictures though. They've made me long for a days fishing.
Get a flight to donegal and off we go..

Hi Gary, is this your river. If so, you may have a good Summer with the " travellers"

The Abbey River is a popular fishing spot. It drains into the Erne Estuary near Ballyshannon. Sea Trout are common in July and August.

Lovely looking river, looks very tight though and a lot of cover and branches. I hope you have a 7 ft rod!

Now that you are in that part of the county, is the Drowes within your 5 km Gary?

I am going stone mad. There is only one cramped little stretch of a stream within 5 km of my house and it looks like it will be weeks and weeks before we can travel within our own county
