Sunday June 5th 2016. 10am. Bakewell Bridge.

On this day it will be one hundred and fifty one years since Mr James Ogden demonstrated his floating flies on the Derbyshire Wye below Bakewell Bridge. The day after our dry-fly-only rule was adopted and has been in place ever since.
It is custom for a nominated person to re-inact that demonstration before an assembled crowd and catch a fish. That person will dress of the time and use equipment as close to that of Mr Ogden as possible. He will of course be subject to withering scrutiny and entirely uncalled for barracking from the parapet.
They'll be something to drink and some snap if we can sort it. If Mr Ogden catches his fish there will be champagne. You're all invited.

This year our James Ogden will be Pete Arfield of Bakewell Fly Fishing Shop.

Richard Ward played Mr Ogden last year. He looked the part, and in spite of the barrage of hecklers from Bakewell Bridge (comments such as 'Put a chip on the hook, Richard!') he caught a fish after just a few minutes. Retired to Peter's boutique for a little snifter - jolly good way to commemorate Ogden's 150th anniversary!

With a comment like that you could be hearing from Mr Arfield's solicitors.:D:D:D:D

My concern is that being a Thespian, he will be that busy trying to decide upon his best side for the cameras, he will forget why he is holding a fishing rod!
