Im going to fly fish local res for Perch, I have # 7/8 fly rod and already possess floating line (suitable for small waters)
But res is considerable depth so I need advice on which line to buy e.g intermediate fast sinking or some other line and what make.
Also what is best wire trace make to use because Pike are present?
I would appreceate guidence from you guys, thanks.

Percher,

I can't offer any advice concerning line etc, as I'm primarily a river angler. But this wire is fine.

The above is just an example, it comes in a range of BS.

Hi I fish some big res s for big perch , I always use sink lines , if it’s not to deep , under 20 ft , I use dI 7 s , sink at 7 inches a second , count down 10 seconds ,about 6 ft , 20 , your down at 12 ft ,30 , about 18 ft ,
start off counting low , then go higher , deeper , , sometimes there near the bottom , sometimes mid water , I use Rio bite wire , it’s a knot able wire , nice to use , I always use a wire on these res es , as there are BIG pike in them , I use a steamer type fly about 3/4 inches , perch are greedy , my friend had a 4 lber , on a 6 inch pike fly ! , you can use zonkers ,snakes etc , , If it’s really deep over 20 ft say 30 to 40 ft ,I use T18 , sinks like a brick , saves weighting forever to get down there !
Good luck
a big perch is a great looking fish !

Thanks lots pikeflyFisher some useful advice, I've a lot to learn about sinking lines.
At present I have Rio fly lines, WF9F, WF8F/I, WF9I/S6 I'm learning how to use these.
I've just started fishing Pontsticill/Dol y gaer then lockdown comes in, don't get me wrong for good reasoning but stops my fishing.
Never mind over field practicing casting, it would be nice to tlk again.

Fish happy and safe, Neil 🙏
