Managed to get out with Nick for a days fishing despite the floods by heading way upstream to a beat of the river Irfon in mid Wales. The fishing was tough but in the end we were both well rewarded with some decent grayling.

Very heavy bugs were needed as there was still a lot of water pushing through but Nick managed one at just under 2lbs and I was lucky enough to get one at 2lb 2oz

Just remember there is always fishable water somewhere, it just takes a but of a drive sometimes!

The Irfon is always a good bet after heavy rainfall as it comes back down so quickly. Lately it's been up and down like a yo-yo so it's hard to catch it right.

Well done both of you with managing to connect with a couple of lovely specimens!

PS, thought I knew most of the Irfon but couldn't pinpoint the photos...maybe I'm just not looking hard enough! :)

Lovely fish! Fingers crossed this settled weather stays for a while and the rivers fall down again.
