I have the 4w... I went for the 4w so it could handle tungsten a bit better... lovely rod, feels nice to cast, really quick recovery, looks good...

I’m just waiting for one to come up fore sale on different sites ..

But is it any better than the original G series I wonder.
Having tried both I don't think so, ( but then I am slightly bias ) in favour of the original.

depends on what you want from a rod I guess... recovery is quicker than the original...

I think you are picking nits, I don't think the so called quicker recovery is worth 750.00
over a good s/hand one:cautious:
Nit picking... Not really, just pointing out one aspect, amongst a number where it is improved..
and if you can’t notice the “so called“ quicker recovery then that’s says more about your ability than the ‘rods’

what were you expecting the improvement to be... self-casting?
