Hi I'm looking for a hook thats the same length as the kamasan b400 but in a heavier wire like the b175. I tie all my non beaded nymphs on the b175 and tie my beaded nymphs on the b400 for its length. Unfortunately the b400 seems to be a thinner wire hook and I like the strength of the b175 much better. As far as I can tell the b400 is a longer shanked version of the b170 and kamasan don't seem to have a longer shanked version of the heavier b175 to my knowledge.

You could try the B-830.
The 400 is a round bend ,basically a 2x version of the 405.
B-170 and 175s are sproat bends.

B120 are a bit longer than 175s and they are strong. They were formerly marketed as Drennan wetfly supreme and are very good hooks. Will take the bead nicely.

Hmm I can remember tying a few on b830 before. Just wondering where I put them now as I didn't use them all. If I remember correctly they are a small bit longer than the b400. I may look for them. Thanks!

No problem, if you can’t find them you might look for the drennan carbon nymph hook, which are just B-830s under a different name...😉

Yes, looking at measurements I could find online these are pretty much the same length as the b400 and have a stronger wire. Just what I'm looking for. I'll order some and see how I get on Thanks Jeffhirst.

Jimmy the b200s are the same lenght as the b830s but with a heavier wire. I can't find and information on the hook gape though I'm hoping its not narrower. Have you any experience with the b200?

Aye the 200s are a narrower gape than the 830s .There isn’t a lot of difference in the wire gauge .The 200 does not have a forge.
