Sutherland in late July/August?

I love May up there. I also love June. July is pretty good too! August and September are less appealing to me. August because of this:



September is better but the salmon are getting tired.

These days I do 2 weeks in May, 2 weeks in June and a week in July.

OK so what if I could make the trip last week in May /first week in June? I'm guessing fewer midges but also few sea trout and salmon but how would the trout fishing be - is this prime time up there??

There would always be the option of sea trout in the Kyles of Sutherland, Tongue and Durness.
It wouldn't be a bad time of year for the association beats on the Helmsdale, Naver and Thurso for salmon.
