There's Facebook Groups dedicated to both Tentbox and Dry Robe ******s. Funny but a tad unfair I think, I can see the merits of a Dry Robe after a wild swim, particularly in winter. However, I think it's more aimed at those wearing them as a fashion statement.....which seems a bit odd. A bit like the trend for folk shopping in Asda in their Onesies

I've been there myself, back in 1980-something. Two wheels onto wet/icy grass with a gradient and the whole car (a Sierra, I recall) ever so slowly dragged itself down the bank and into a wide-bottomed ditch. At 12.30am, about a mile outside Naseby, of battle fame. Whilst waiting for the AA to pull me out I must have snoozed off, only to be awakened by a panicked face of an old boy at the window thinking he'd found a corpse 🤣

Probably getting on for 40 years ago now driving on what is now the somewhere on the northern bit of the NC500. Came across a chap who had managed to get his car stuck half in a ditch, whilst travelling at speed, as a guess.
We pulled his car out with a tow rope but suggested he didn’t drive it any further as A: there probably wasn’t much water left in the cooling system judging from the amount of steam that had come from under the bonnet, and B: it became clear that he was somewhat intoxicated.
He took the view that the whole thing was a minor inconvenience and that as the engine had restarted, he was damm well going to carry on his journey home.
Having voiced our opinion but not wanting to argue further with a drunk on a lonely road, we watched him drive off into the darkness trailing a cloud of steam.

Just the sort of “rig” you need I guess to nip out for a loaf. After all it is September in Staffordshire, there’s the possibility of river crossings, being stranded over night, not to mention having an appropriate large calibre stashed to deal with marauding bears, wolves, Port Vale fans etc.
The fast show 4x4 sketch immediately springs to mind!

Met a cousin at the NEC Camping and caravanning show 2 years ago. She was looking at a "Tent" to mount on top of their Land Rover ? (for a trip to France) Her husband was not impressed.
Unfortunately she pointed out that she would have to stick her bum out at night as she couldn't go all night after a "few" wines and there was No Way she could climb down in the dark ??
I cannot remove that vison now.
Always chuckle when I see her in the village. Always put them down as Too Posh for camping !
Just to prove that - No tent box bought, went "Hoteling" instead !
