'Copper John'? Yes, what about it? A heavy stonefly nymph, with very limited use if I remember correctly. Late 80's/early 90's pattern? A real classic :rolleyes:

But those are two flies that do the same job. What about a different fly for when black is NOT the way to go?

Hi Richard, I'm not in anyway saying they are the only flies I'd want in my box. Because as you say,they are doing the same Job. I just have a soft spot for these patterns and they give me confidence when on the cast as part of a team with other patterns.
