Thornton fishing report week ending 26/10/08

A mixed weeks fishing due to the weather saw 141 rods catch 237 trout for a rod average of 1.7 with the fishing particularly difficult over the weekend due to the wind.

During the earlier part of the week floating lines & buzzers caught fish with Richard Dayman & Chris Vernon catching 11 on this method with Norma Prime fishing an indicator & buzzers for her 6 trout. Later on in the week & with the colder weather lures started to produce better with minkie, zonkers & cats whiskers fished on a intermediate or slow sinking line along the stones, wood & apposite the lodge providing the best of the sport.

With a much colder forecast for this coming week & the shorter daylight hours we should see the fry patterns working better.

Our closing date falls on November 23rd if your coming to fish the bank be sure to bring your waders.

Lodge open from 7.30am

Fishing report week ending 16/11/08

The heavy rain we had here on Saturday 8th put a fair bit of coloured water into the reservoir, as a result the fishing this past week has been poor with anglers taking our advice & not bothering to fish.

However as we enter the last week of the 2008 season our closing date is this coming Sunday 23rd November the clarity of the water has started to improve & a few rods who did venture out over the weekend did pick up a few fish.

This week forecast of colder night time temperatures should help & with over 6000 trout still in the reservoir we should see a much improved weeks fishing.

The boats for the last day are fully booked if your coming to fish the bank be sure to bring your waders.

Information on season permits for Thornton can be found by visiting our web site www.flyfishthornton.co.uk with our season permits starting from £140.00 there should be one there to suit your needs.

Lodge open from 7.30am boats available from 8.30am
