Thanks John a nice write up and worth the wait to record your next double figure fish here ,a great fish! This week amazing buzzer activity and surface sport on Havering Trenches most of the day and wild evening rises!! Mainly Tigers on dries all day and rainbows deeper on buzzer but only by a couple of feet . Rod average high for all fishing as feeding is prolific -average 9 per rod with a fair few hitting mid double figure bags. Yesterday saw Trout Fisherman Magazine here Peter Cockwill and Peter Gathercole so watch out for their write up coming soon. Needless to say Peter was surface and sight fishing all day with some very pretty tigers in the mix mainly to griffiths gnat in the margins . Other methods were also working for other anglers damsels and small leaches / tadpoles. Last weekend we had a great Troutmasters fish off for both seniors and juniors where above John came 3rd to David Peters 2nd and winner was Les Plaster who goes on to fish final -well done all! Fishery is looking good now and greenery shooting up ,see you soon!

Hi Peter,
I don't know if you can remember this far back but as my Son and I didn't have a very good day you made me a very generous offer that I've never taken you up on. Does it still stand?

Hi Roger vaguely remember I offered 2 for 1 a few years ago, normally vouchers etc we like to use by in a year but this time ok as was slightly different. Yes let me know the when you coming on fishery phone as I not on here much. Currently fishing is mainly dries and buzzers on top lake crystal clear but a bit of surface weed but all mainly fishable If approach is right! Middle lake catch and keep half deeper down sport on Fry patterns and small nymphs while Stalking Pools much deeper down on snakes and tungsten headed lures. Catch and release end of Three Springs middle lake shut for summer like each June , July and August as release not work there well but fish happy feeding in depths. Remember we now stock Tiger, golden, Sandy ,sparctics and 2 very different types of blue plus Brown trout up to 22lbs and all are to see on Facebook, Instagram Twitter and YouTube not that I can make all to be caught the same day though!so I may be different to others and i open all summer even last summer but last summer mornings were the best time! Iain Barr here tonight with a dry fly tutorial for those booked on it. Check out google reviews also with the social media sites for up to date pictures and words as that a true picture.talkto you soon .. All 3 lakes have an air generating machine so bubbles in all 3 at times which will liven up a bit of harder heat still days , but mainly I installed to combat ice...

Thanks for that Peter, you have a very good memory. It was actually a free day or 2 for1. I will hopefully take you up on it within the next few weeks. Not sure which option it will be, all depends on whether or not my son wants to come.
I'll try not to lock my car keys in the boot next time!!:)

Fishing rod average for last week 3 fish per rod ,some great fully finned rainbows mainly all grown on by the tell tale shape of fish and size of tails. Please see facebook Thornwood Springs for last weeks pictures or see google reviews for visitors. Best about 5lbs recorded with a mix of Tigers,Goldens and the odd Brown in the mix-not bad for Mid July! Dry fly still working at times with daddies and blue damsels but also fry feeding going on and normal weighted damsels and whiskers catching-red buzzer also had moments.

What a crazy day Sunday fished like 1 guy Jeff landed 15 fish on the Trenches in middle of the day 2 browns, 3 tigers in his mixed bag all on my favourite blue dry damsel in stock, those that get them catch the most it seems as another visitor from Scotland on same day recorded 10 fish again on a 4 hour ticket....all to see on Facebook Thornwoodsprings as is twitter and Instagram pics of most for all to see! Also some chunky bows up to 5lb taken , rod average still over 3 per rod with most on short sessions! See the updates and follow for more soon..

My first visit to Thornwood Springs today. Peter, the owner gave me some fantastic advice in the shop and I ended the day with my four fish limit. Had two fish that escaped me (barbless hooks!), but I will get used to them. The lake wasn't that big so you don't have to be a distance caster to get out to the fish. I had my best day ever fly fishing so I will certainly be going back soon.

Second visit to Thornwood Springs today.

Took my brother-in-law along for a day at the lake.

It was harder going than the last time I fished here (about ten days ago).

We both managed our two fish limit and did enjoy the day.

Peter was again very helpful with the information on what was catching and where.

I do enjoy fishing here so will be going back again.

Good to see you back Russ and both got a couple , yes was a lower rod average for all yesterday on both lakes with less fish topping on Three Springs lake than the week before but the top lake was again dry fly all day on damsels daddies and hoppers . Browns , tigers a few goldens and rainbows of course all featured and some good yesterday pictures on Thornwoodsprings Facebook page uploaded last night as the goldens been hiding somewhere last few weeks! Highly visible yesterday though, if you see them swimming you know where the rainbows are to😉 Weedy up there just got to approach it right to score best results but will be more removed next week as well as a fresh rainbow stocking coming soon just got to monitor the temperatures to be certain they travel well.

What a great summer of fishing for the fishery and the returning anglers, the new ones and the regulars. Restocked The trenches a couple of weeks ago with Three Springs restock happening tomorrow. Rod average for July and August at 7 fish per rod which dropped to a lowly 3 per rod for the hot and bright last Bank Holiday weekend! But check out the bank holiday post for Alan Blake with his double hook up in the midday sun one being a brown-pics to see on facebook and instagram! We had 15 brown trout caught and released in August which is 1 every 2 days -great feeding as all surface stuff! Rainbows to 9lb recorded over the weekend as bigger fish are starting to stir! much needed rain today to top up..

Voted number 20 in top 100 of Trout Fisheries in Trout Fisherman magazine ,well chuffed with that seeing as we only been here for a decade now ,those that know know! Thanks to all our loyal customers and helpers helping us to get this far and makes all the hard work worthwhile. Still dry fly most days all day on top lake, while the other 2 lakes more fry pattern based style of fishing on all lines especially intermediate and sinking. All 6 species of trout recorded in last few weeks!! Great to see some Sparctics showing now and some big fish showing. Check our facebook, instagram and twitter as loads of pics to see ...
