Thread on the rod tip ring?

I am just rebuilding the top section of a rod that I broke last year.
My question is quite simple.-
On the original rod, that I also built, there is no thread on the tip ring, it is just glued on with hot glue. Is it normal to whip the tip ring with thread or not?

No usually hot glue is enough, I like to put a bit of whipping just over the end bit though and onto the rod, only 1/4” though just looks better.

Fwiw If you use heavy butted tapers or multi tip lines a lined top guide is much more user friendly, loops don't catch/jar on the way in regardless of the rod to line angle.
