I have a visitor arriving this weekend who want to river fish for trout....I have heard that the upper Tummel at the lin of tummel can be good, its wild and scenic. Any advice on this? We want to French nymph / klink n dink. Any advice appreciated, please feel free to pm me.

I have fished it up to the road bridge, its hard going and steep banked in places, if you access via the caravan park at Faskally(not the woodland park) you can go up or down river, down is not far and the easier fishing but its not far, up takes you to a spectacular pool coming out the gorge but its usually mobbed with tourists, if you venture up the gorge it is commando style, deep dark water in a serious gorge, only fish I caught were down river, three quarter pound stuff in very low water.
I think you can get a permit for the slow meandering bit above but never fished it, think the permits are in the tourist information across from the tackle shop in Pitlochry if that is still there.

The closer you get to Dunalastair the better the fishing gets imo
