Not much meat on those legs if you were desperate Steven. No wonder the owl hides its legs they are hardly glamorous a bit like an old man in long johns

If I'm honest I always thought owls had little dumpy legs like penguins which now I think about it would be pretty useless for a bird of prey!

I wonder if penguins too have long legs????

No weight to them either. I've picked up a few dead barn owls and one short eared and they weigh ounces, particularly the barn owls. All fluff and feather.

I think among wild birds only ducks and geese weigh anything like you expect them to.
Oh and cormorants, especially when they have a big fish down them!
