When shopping with the wife this morning we went to Whinny Hill to the tip, Accrington to a florist, Rossendale to se one of my specialist doctors, Rishton to get a prescription, Whalley to pick up a wedding dress for the D in L and finally back to Rishton.

This afternoon we have gardened.

Hope they manage to sort your dad out Steve,

Had the morning on Dingle, hard going again, quite a lot rising when I got there but most of them well out. Started on two buzzers nothing, tried a black hopper popper nothing, put an egg fly on point had the odd pull but didn’t connect, moved round & put a bloodworm on point a few more pulls then I got one on & landed, two more fish hooked but came off, that was it didn’t see anything else caught.

Saw a hedgehog in the garden last night as it was going dark.

It came back again tonight, put some moist cat food out for it but doesn’t seem to have eaten it, will check on it in the morning.

They seem to prefer dry cat food such as chicken flavour Iams or Purina (never give them fish based food though, as it disagrees with them). You can sprinkle this thinly over an area of the lawn so they can forage for it 'naturally', rather than putting in a single pile or bowl. However, if feeding any animal dry food, you have to make sure they have a good supply of water to drink as dry food makes them thirsty. (y)

They have kept dad in at hospital. I got the phone call at 07:00, “ can you bring me xyz”. Not sure if visitors are allowed at the moment so may have to leave xyz with reception. He sounded fine.

I had a couple come out during the day looking dehydrated during the hot spell, I put a couple of dishes of water out for them and I think they must have liked it as they've left poo for my dog to use as odour cologne

Morning guys.
Bright and quite still this morning.
Another trip to Aldi, wife forgot to put breakfast cereals on the list, managed to get some washing up liquid, still no Haribos or prunes for my mother and no hand sanitizer. :( As per yesterday, people wearing face coverings but they are not hand sanitizing and not doing trolleys or baskets. I must be the odd one out. 😷🛒
Well done Tom on another onsie 🎣, fishing stillwaters still tough going.
Daren't put cat food out here, too many dammed (yes cursing, not a wall to hold back water) cats.

Went for a walk this afternoon along a river. Saw plenty of minnow activity and just the odd bigger fish. On the plus was seeing an heron, dipper and kingfisher, noticed a few small olives and stoneflies. Quite a few sand martins on the wing after flies just above the river and wagtails in the margins. Downside was very low water and the river was quite wide in places, some steep banks so access not that good. Some reasonable looking spots though. (y)
Plans made to fish the brook tomorrow with brother in law as a guest, will have to be back home early as daughter to go for her second covid jab, her appointment was for 10:57 tomorrow morning but that's been cancelled. Jabs being given between 17:00 and 20:00 from last Thursday to tomorrow only. Great as she only got notification Saturday about the changes. Her GP surgery did phone at lunch to check she had the information.

Lovely morning but rain forecast for later this afternoon.

Done a bit of dead heading in the garden fished out some more duckweed from the pond & down loaded the pictures from the wildlife camera. I missed the hedgehog last night it wasn’t until it had gone dark I remembered to look, couldn’t see a thing, put the outside light on & there were two hedgehogs on the lawn the one I saw the night before & a much larger one presumably the mum.
Anyway they scoffed all the soft cat food & suet pellets but they left the dry cat biscuits I bought yesterday.
Changed the settings on the camera to record both photos & video so will see what happens tonight.

Hard day on the river today. It was low but the colour of black tea. Tried the new lure but no joy. Nothing worked for the chub. Just could not locate them.
A small trout saved a blank.
spent a bit of time tuning lures sat in the sun. While doing this I got a pain between my shoulders, I felt awful and was nearly sick. Thankfully it passed after a few minutes. I called it a day.
