Well done Italy and also Scotland. Unlucky for Ireland the home nation.

A disappointing aspect of this world tournament, is that out of the 37 countries who might have entered, only 10 countries actually entered. [FONT=&quot]The countries who took part were Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden & USA.

From what I was told, it would appear that money was a deciding factor in most cases, for countries not entering, where individuals would have been expected to pay their own way.

This is quite sad for a world event, but I suspect it must be pretty difficult to get commercial sponsorship for international fly fishing teams, where media exposure is almost non-existent.

I have fished 2 weeks this year so far out of Oughterard and never heard about it, they should have done a lot more with their advertising.

There's no money for advertising each competitor had to pay 1100 euro and for the majority it was paid personally
