Due to conditions I changed to duo and had three more grayling to a grey nymph. I even tried single dry but missed one offer and then lost a fish. Casting was problematic due to a strong, mainly down stream breeze but in places it was very swirly. I also got in a right tangle after losing yet another fish so off with the setup and replaced with new but stronger and thicker in diameter. I changed weight of nymph and changed from hair wing sedge (no offers) to one of my CDC dries (no offers) then on with an 18s parachute dry when I saw fish sipping at the surface. Fishing was steady in places and I found fish in most water conditions. Only one place was spoilt due to an ignorant dog owner. He got told where to go and I was fully prepared to drown his lab. Not did it disturb me but the fish, the ducks and wagtails. I was stood in open water and very visible, he had wondered off the path solely to let his dog in the river. What he didn't know was I had my steel toe caps on with studded soles. He went when I waded over that side of the river.
Back to fishing. I missed and lost a lot of fish, most to the nymph. I did manage two very nice browns and three small ones on the dry. This being the best:

I ended with the 4 grayling and 27 browns.
Don’t ever think of drowning the lab, unlike it’s owner it’s doesn't understand your problem. I’ve never found a problem with dogs in the stream that a few minutes doesn’t solve. They get out of the way of course but are soon back if they are feeding.
    Growing old disgracefully!

The lab wouldn't have gone in if it wasn't instructed to do so by the idiot. I've had dog problems before but don't usually bother if I was in hiding or the owners apologise, which most have done. This particular stretch is very slow so is easily disturbed, also not normally visited by dogs.

I would have fished the river today, but with a 21mph downstream wind, I would have found it difficult. The strong winds (downstream) seem to with us up here for another week.

Went to the reservoir, were the wind was not so much of a problem. Caught into double figures, which was a result for me. Most on trad wet flies.

There was one other angler fishing when I arrived (on the opposite side) - He was keener than me, as he was still there when I left!

Hope the wind dies down soon, and I can get back to the river. However, I enjoyed my day.

Had a interesting day on lower wharfe today, was expecting to only get Grayling of which i caught a good number also caught 2 chublets, but the most pleasing part was 3 small wild brown trout which can only be a good sign.
One pool had changes a lot and used to hold lots of fish, today i never even got a bump in said pool.

Had a heart stopping moment when fishing my fly down i noticed a fish between 2 to 3 ft long follow fly grab it only to let go, i'm assuming it was a barbell, would of being fun on 3llb tippet lol.

Really enjoyed today, fished a very small weighted nymth tied by the late Gary Hyde, fished down and across.

    Tight lines.
