    Hi Douglas,

I love the upper Tweed, perfect substrate for Grayling from Innerleithen and upstream ! Thought I'd maybe have bumped in to you !

I was fishing an Orvis Recon 10' #3 with a Diawa Carp Leader ( I am a fairly new convert to these, having used the Orange Shock Leaders years ago which are nowhere as good). I had about 7 feet of 0.12 Stroft Low Stretch, a #16 265 Red Tag Jig with 3.5 mm bead (which the fish took) on point and then about 2' above that a #16 Black PTN 2.5 mm bead on dropper. The fish was caught in a deep run downstream of Peebles !

    Cheers,

    IL

Please excuse bad pic ( and dust smudge on my phone's camera sensor....now gone !), my 'go to' Grayling team (rarely fish 3 flies) :

And the Diawa Carp Leader I am now using after getting a heads up from the Upstream Nymph Facebook guys:

To the Carp Leader I perfection loop the butt and attach to fly line. I then add 3 to 4 feet of Cortland White Indicator Mono in 9 lbs lbs ( 1x or 0.25 mm) using a blood knot, and then blood knot on 2' of Rio Bi-Colour Indicator in 2x (0.23mm) terminating in a tippet ring. A nice tapering French Leader setup, good for tight line but also French/Spanish upstream light or single nymphs.

    Hi IL,

Thanks for taking the time to do that.

My French Leader is not as long as that, but the principal is the same when tight lining'

I've never used a red tag for a long time, I think I'll give it a swim next time I am out.
