Default Modified 3-Turn Water Knot (a/k/a Surgeon's Knot) for Droppers???

Note: I posted this question in the "Knots" forum, but it doesn't receive much traffic. So, my apology, but I'm posting it here too, as I really hope someone can provide an answer.

In the newest Airflo Stillwater video with Gareth Jones and Ian Barr, Gareth says he uses a 3 Turn Water Knot to tie his droppers, but he modifies it by doing something different with the final turn. He says this modification gives the knot a smoother profile and that, in his testing, it is also stronger.

In the video, he says he'll provide a close up instruction, but either they didn't get to it in the filming, or it got edited out of the video.

Anyone know what this knot is? If so, can you describe how to do it for me?

    Much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Bryan

Sit still and watch the river, it's all a part of fishing.

Yes, searched there but didn't find it.

Some people - including me - add a hitch so that the dropper stands out from the leader. Could it be that?

Nothing wrong with a double water knot. It’s never let me down it’s smaller in profile and a lot of competition anglers I know also use it.

Me too ,I think it was the Pitsford Pirate that put me onto it after years of using the 4 turn one ,lots of time saved and it is reliable ,thats if you use nylon of sensible strength /diameter.

Have you tried the 'infinity' knot? I picked it up from an Orvis page, tap it into your search engine.
BTW the 'modification' you originally spoke about was probably an overhand knot tied above the water knot, which helps the dropper stand out at right angles.

As I said in the knots section, it's explained in the latest Trout Fisherman mag, here's what they printed.

I'd still stick with the easier to tie, and proven figure of eight knot.

Apologies for it being upside down.
Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught and the last river poisoned, will we realise, we cannot eat money.
