Default New wild fishery in Saddleworth

I've been fishing Yoeman Hay reservoir, near Greenfield, for a few season now and access has always been difficult. This season the family who own the fishing rights are stocking the water with Rainbows and opening up the fishing to the general public.

The reservoir holds a good population of wild trout and I've had 40+ fish one June day a few seasons back.
They respond really well to traditional wet fly loch methods. Theres a good rang of sizes but the average about 10 inch.

There's the odd bigger fish. I've had one of 18 inches but they are deep and don't rise to the wet flies.

More information can be found here ...

A wild population such as that won’t respond well to 2000 hungry rainbows invading their habitat every year. You’d think they would put the rainbows in the reservoir with less fish as opposed to the one where the trout are spawning much more successfully. I’m all for stockie bashing but on a water like this what’s the point?
    Greed lead decision I assume.
