Re: Fishing for Grayling and Trout 2019 / 2020
Out yesterday on the Dee, which has now dropped to what to me is a just-wadable level, first time out for quite a few weeks. Mistake travelling on Monday morning but couldn't go over the weekend.
With a pal who normally fishes the smaller Derbyshire rivers, started at a long pool which usually produces. Found the current to be a bit stronger than expected, so didn't wade too deep. Early on, lost what seemed a good fish then netted a good one, just short of 40cm on rod marker. As pal was struggling with the current, went upstream to a more sedate stretch, which has a long gravel bar just beyond the centre, usually a nice place for grayling. Wading through slack water to get there, found it a bit deeper than I expected, well over the waist, up towards the chest, which I wasn't happy with. Netted a couple of very good fish, again touching 40cm, then relatively smaller one at 25cm. Stayed on this spot for a little while for a few more fish but after a couple of potential/almost dippings decided enough was enough. As now time for lunch walked back down to hut. Another slower stretch for a while after lunch but before long - how time flies - light was failing so we decided to pack in.
Didn't quite make the dozen but was pleased that all fish, bar one at 25cm, over 30cm and all very healthy and fit looking. Pal's fish the same. None of the usual 4-6 inch fish which normally appear, not sure if this is a good sign or not.

Not posted in a while. Hope that everyone is well.
Since I came off the forum a few months back alot has changed. I'm not an ambassador for angling Scotland on Instagram and been made part of the guide fly fishing pro team.
Been out a fair few times but here are some of the best shots. I hope that you enjoy them. Tightlines
