    George

see the reply i got below from one of the committee earlier this week, Ive queried this and its going to be brought up again on the next meeting - now i'm totally confused???

    ""Graeme,

I had a word at the meeting last night...

The people present did not know of Toby Hill Cottage but in brief:

South bank: Just below Middleton-in-Teessdale to Burn Foot Farm

North bank: Middleton-in-Teessdale to the Lune mouth.
    hope this helps """

I totally agree they need to look at a compass or have map reading lessons! Graeme DONT be confused I've fished this water for many a year & categorically stand by the directions I have gave you. It's a sad day when a member of the committee doesn't know maybe you should have asked where Ornella Farm is!!! I leave my car there everytime I visit ground conditions allowing, that would really confuse them!

Sad thing is when you join, the maps are so vague, so when i joined i asked a member of the committee the exact boundaries of the fishing, his reply is it is all on the map, after talking to various members i got to understand the boundaries to be as george has said and they definitely have there north and South mixed up.

Great club, just a little vague with their information.

Digital maps are the way forward. Every club should have them.

The thing is, you join a club based on looking at the water that they own, and if it isn't shown correctly its not what you signed up to. Shame is, the south bank is much better fishing and access on this particular stretch in my experience so i'll probably be looking for a club with different water next season (as well as keeping my other two club memberships going), as will my mate.

South bank much better fishing! Graeme, I would personally not agree with that statement, but each to their own! I fish this stretch a hell of a lot, more than I care to mention on a public forum as people soon click onto your fishing habits as has happened in the past to me, & the fishing is superb on the North bank if you know where to fish, it's all down to time spent on the water, I would personally say this is some of the best Grayling fishing in the North East of England, thats how highly I rate that particular stretch, all within the limits of that stretch.

Personally i think the syndicate have got the rough end of the stick as most of all the decent pools are accessible from the north bank but not from the south bank, both for trotting & fly fishing as for access there is a path that runs the full length of the stretch with very easy access to the best fishing spots and parking if you know where to go, Get to know the local farmers is my best recommendation to anyone who fishes a river, they are a wealth of info & help and allow you to park where they might not let others.
