A few things we have been doing on the river recently, to improve our fishery over the closed season and Spring. Repairing existing deflectors and water crowfoot planting as advised by the WTT

Some Mayfly hatching and one or two trout interested. Had three nice fish on a Mayfly, hatching Olive and Cowdung fly. Lost three good fish under heavy cover on Mayfly.

Caught an 18 inch overwintered stockie from the copse on a white bodied Mayfly yesterday afternoon. Continued down to above the Hart confluence and waded back up. Plenty of small fish rising to olives, or alders and tied on a size 16 deer hair sedge, missing several takes, but caught five wild fish, the best about 8 oz.

Arrived at the river early in the afternoon hoping to beat the rain. Very still and humid, with no sign of mayfly or rises. Cattle on both sides of the river forced me to go through the farmyard, then down to the Hart to wade back. Managed a 6 inch wild fish and a stockie on an unweighted Hares Ear nymph. Then it rained and rained again. On my way home by 3 pm.
