    Default Westlow Mere

Since re-opening, has the fishery gone over to catch and kill only? The web site no longer shows a catch and release price but the web site does not seem to have been updated for quite some time

As far as I know it's not exclusively C&K, but there are no sporting tickets now.
Minimum I think is a single fish ticket at 15, with C&R after that.

You can still catch and release, 10 all day sport ticket has got to be great value for money

Just seen Mikes post, when did that change then as I fished it at the end of last year on a sporting ticket?

Evening all i made a post a while ago stating the changes to tickets available from jan 1st at Westlow, for those who missed it,the prices are as follows.
    15 for a 1 fish ticket
    20 for a 2 fish ticket
    25 for a 3 fish ticket
    10 for a 1 fish oap ticket
Catch and release is allowed after killing your limit.
    Hope this helps.
    Paul.

Thanks Paul for the clarification but if there is no sporting option, I'll have to find a new fishery. It's a pity as I really enjoyed all my previous visits to Westlow

I Can understand your point mate as i have never taken a fish wherever i go,however i do not have a problem in paying for a 1 fish ticket and if the chance arises passing on the fish to someone else,if not i will put my catch back.
The main problem at westlow was that the stocking policy was one of putting to many fish in and not taking into account how many were being taken, this played a major part in the argolus problem which had devstating effect and but for all the work carried out by volunteers would have led to the permanent closure.
I personally feel that 15 is a small price to pay to fish one of the best small fisherys with a cracking lodge, free tea and coffee, microwave,t.v,computer toilet facilities all in an excellent clean condition, thats without the free loan of all equipment needed to fish and for novices no need to pay a penny untill they have caught their first fish.So if value for money comes into it i think anyone would struggle to find better.
I will be manning the lodge tomorrow morning as i have mostly been doing for the last 4 years if you or anyone fancies a good days fishing and a chat
