    I have now completed the article. I'm just waiting to see if an angling magazine wants it, then will post a link here to the Angling Heritage Museum website where I hope it will be available to all. In the footnotes I sincerely and gratefully acknowledge this forum's help, it wouldn't have happened otherwise.

    There are a few red herrings in my opening post here - I couldn't find any evidence that Fenwick ever supplied blanks to Hardy, for instance - but the general thrust of it, that carbon fibre rods were first made 50 years ago by Hardy Bros. appears correct - thank goodness!

    Next ..... 'Glass Fibre rods are 100 Years Old!'
