Default Ari t hart reel advice please

I havn't brought any expensive fly reels for some time and fancied an ari t hart after some advice please ?

Any idea what a mint condition Gallatin 2 would be worth please ? I am assuming that this reel was not produced in Holland but made under licence in Denmark if there are any experts out there

Hi Dave? Yes they were made in Denmark, still a fine reel, but has a black plastic clicker on the rear whereas the Dutch made have a metal one.
I’ve owned a few, the Gallatin was one I never really coveted, the Orbigo is a better buy IMO very similar but if you can find an early one they will hold their price better.
For a nice example expect to pay between £350 to £500, you’ve just missed a very nice one on eBay, totally as new with a BIN price of £300 but it went unsold.
Condition is everything with Aris reels, collectors will pay for mint examples.
The Ari11 was my favourite model.

If it’s the same one it’s a Danish one, not Dutch, check the clicker, but if it’s to fish with no problem.

Yes, same reel, the one above it on eBay is a better buy, Dutch, metal clicker, knurled drag kn0b, much earlier model.
Two spare spools as well, I’d go for that myself, if you look after it, it’ll hold its price.

PS, make sure you get either LHW or RHW, it’s awkward and expensive to alter them.

Thanks again mrtrout , I could only find one other reel an "Ari T Hart Rio Orbigo #5 Fly reel" starting at £150 and that only had the one spool and was showing some wear on the reel seat. I'm afraid I'm looking for an expensive toy rather than a reel to use

Most Ari't Hart reels are fitted with needle roller one way bearings that an "interference fit" in the bearing housing. The 2 options to reverse the winding direction are to get a new bearing housing with the bearing fitted in the opposite way, or to risk damaging the original bearing by using a bearing press to remove it from it's housing and refitting it in the opposite way.
New bearing housings are as rare as horse feathers................

We used to have a bit of an Ari “expert” on here, but he was banned, wasn’t he?
