Hardy Ferrule ?
Did only Hardy use this type of ferrule, cheers for any input.

No, I've seen them on other makers rods eg. Foster of Ashbourne. I think Hardy may have had a patent on this type of ferrule for a while.

I had a nondescript cane course rod many years ago (no label or writing on it) that had a locking pin on the brass ferrule, push in and twist, must have cost quite a bit to produce compared to push fit ferrules.
I do like the idea that people were prepared to try different things to solve what they saw as a problem.
