I actually prefer this configuration - in my mind it helps protect the tippet and the tip of my split-cane rods

maybe wishful thinking tho........ as the best (so far) is 3/4lb..

The reel was delivered by courier one morning
job done by noon................

so I now have a LHW older model JW Young Beaudex for my Herbert Hatton split-cane.....
