Finally, we have them near Grantham, I even managed a picture. Funny how they are in some areas, I'd have thought they would cross the channel then migrate up the country as the summer wears on, anyway chuffed. Cheers

I think it's painted ladies that are popular around my area, on Wednesday I seen what I thought was one butt on getting closer glanced a lovely shade of blue on the wings, i was trying to get my phone out to get a photo and a flew off so I didn't get a proper look at it.
There was only one area/spot of blue on the bottom half of the wing from what I can see on google it's not a peacock.
    Any suggestions?

    Cheers Al

After a bit of time on google I think it's been a red admiral.
The blue area "at a glance" was only on the bottom half outside quarter of the wings?
Typically it flew away before I could get my phone out, doing so prevented me from having a closer look or getting a photo

Here's a Red Admiral Al, mostly blackish looking, though does have a tinge of blue under wings

After some more time on google I'm thinking it could be a peacock butterfly at rest, presumably I'd only see the top wing?
That was the shade of blue in the right area but it wasn't as red more like a painted lady red/orange.

Got one the other day that has a bit of a blue trim, and a nice peacock too.
