Hi all,
looks like Maxcatch have just released a carbon handled version of their In Touch Competition nymph rod.

Carbon Handle Intouch Nymph Rod Pre- Sale[In stock] - MaxCatchFishing

I haven´t got one but I believe the blank and action of the original were good. The disappointing thing for me is that they haven´t changed the biggest criticism that people seemed to have of the rod - the guide placement. The stripping guide is still well up the blank...

Cheers,
Damian F

I've always thought that using cork - a 17th century(?) technology on a 21st century advanced technology rod was a bit daft. An anachronism, a bit of a conceit, but I've never tried anything else, how are these carbon handles?

The infamous Leo 'bastard' had a quite chubby cork handle. Until the thin cork veneer over the duplon foam grip started peeling off. The firm beige foam underneath is now perfectly sized for my hand, and is slightly softer than full cork which I like - I have a really relaxed grip when casting anyhow, and it is very comfortable when fishing.
I don't think the very rigid carbon handle would suit me at all, but I get the idea for a very direct contact nyphing tool.

You can always attach extra removable guide of fish a loooooong leader so not a big deal. The rod weight is not stated i hope its not for heavy lifters🤔
