I understood that when tying droppers in a leader with say a water knot that the dropper is formed with the tail of the leader and the upward tail of the lower length of the leader is snipped off.This means that the dropper is pulling directly on the continuous length of line not dependent on the knot strength.

Well I have bought some leaders from a seller which are tied the opposite way.
Who is right or is there no correct way just preference?
Or is he using a different knot ?

That has been my experience aswell Jim ,the tag pointing back towards the flyline is the weak link .

dropper knots/tying

Definitely the down end tail for a dropper. The up end tail, when used as a dropper, will tend to cut the loops from which it emerges when subject to a pull. Basically that is what happens even when the dropper is made correctly, if a fish on the dropper and the fish on the point oppose each other, the dropper link is the more likely one to break. Just a thought. :)

A couple of nice videos on that site Jim. I particularly liked this one;

Andy wren always raves about the Deveron, i can see why now.
