I am heading off on hols at the end of March for a few days down to secret location near Filey. Is there any good river/stream fishing for wild browns down there. Apparently there is a coarse lake that allows fly fishing where i'll be staying but I'm assuming that will be out of action for the coarse close season (tench, barbel, carp etc)is this correct? Or any local guides? JB

I may be wrong but when i was in Filey last year i could not find much fishing or a good tackle shop.
Mostly course fishing.

The pond in primrose valley looks like a muddy hole to me but after talking to a few locals i am told the course fishing in the pond is good.
I spent a couple of hours and after missing bite after bite i eventually caught a skimmer bream.

Cheese is the choice bait:eek:

I also went spinning for Bass but i had no luck:(.

Good caravan site say hello to Roary:D

I caught a carp about 6lbs from that pond on a bit of floating bread.
Try a big white muddler!!!!!!!!!!

Most Good Yorkshire rivers, the Ure, Swale, Wharfe etc are within 1 to 1.5 hours of where your going, I can highly recommend Driffield Beck and there are a couple of good fly lakes around Pickering area, one to be aware though remember in England if your doing any sort of fishing you need a rod licence unlike in scotland.
